SWABI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has said the government wants the seats of higher learning to focus on result-oriented research and produce indigenous technology to boost the country’s economy and generate employment.

He stated this while addressing the convocation of the University of Swabi (UoS) here on Sunday.

He said imparting contemporary education to youth was the top priority of the government to enable them to play their due role in the country’s progress and prosperity.

The governor said modern education was the only panacea to empower the youth to face the challenges and make the country economically cogent and politically stable.

He said the government would initiate different schemes to enable the educated youth to contribute to the country’s prosperity.

He said both the federal and provincial governments were working on a plan to provide the youth with interest-free loans.

On the occasion, Prof Nasir Jamal Khattak, Vice-Chancellor of UoS, said the varsity was striving to provide modern knowledge to students.

Later, talking to mediapersons, the governor said the provincial government was facilitating the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections in the province.
