Gul Club in semifinals

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: Gul Club advanced to the semifinals of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Inter-city Super cricket tournament with a 38-run defeat of Punjab Club on Friday at the Diamond Ground.

In a game reduced to 32-overs-a-side, Gul put on 199 for seven, a total made largely possible by a brisk 66-ball 61 by Waheed Ahmed.

Also making important contributions were Ajmal Khattak (34) and Nadeem Abbasi (34). Left-arm spinner Sohail Khan captured two wickets for 29 runs.

In reply, Punjab were restricted to 161 in 31.5 overs with Kashif Raja striking 37 to be the top scorer. Umair Khan chipped in with 22.

Spinner Usman Saeed picked up three for 22 while Khalid took two for 27.
