HYDERABAD: ‘Children’s literature festival’ was held in the Besant Hall Cultural Centre on Monday to mark the International Children’s Day.

Rumana Husain, a prolific writer, artist and educationist, spoke at the programme and discussed her journey through literature in a storytelling session titled Meri Kahani Meri Zubani. She interacted with children and talked about childhood stories making the segment more engaging.

The programme focused on the children who are underprivileged and not provided with such platforms where they could display their enthusiasm for art and literature.

Children from government and special education schools presented tableaux on stage.

Differently-abled students also participated in a speech contest and sang national anthem using sign language while the children from local communities took part in art and craft activities.

The programme was aimed at serving community, reviving reading and storytelling culture in young generation and producing progressive writers for future generations.
