SWABI: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan on Monday ordered posting of family court judges to Razaar and Swabi tehsils.

Addressing members of the district bar association here, he said in the current situation, the judiciary had a lot of responsibilities as people had attached great expectations to it.

“I pledge that no judge will be appointed without merit,” he said, adding interviews of candidates for appointment as judges were ongoing.

He asked the judges of lower courts not to award harsh punishments like imprisonment to accused for minor offences like possessing charas.

He also promised approving a bench of the high court in Swabi.

He also approved provision of five computers for the bar library and fast internet connection for the judicial complex.

He urged lawyers and judges to respect and value each other as much as they did to him.

Swabi bar president Mian Faheem Akbar also spoke on the occasion.
