PARIS: Nice were held to a 0-0 draw at Montpellier on Friday that saw them record a seventh successive clean sheet and maintain their unbeaten start to the season but offered their rivals a chance to knock them off the Ligue 1 summit.

Nice are top with 26 points, two points ahead of Paris St Germain in second and three clear of AS Monaco in third. Both PSG and Monaco will have the chance to move ahead of Nice when they play their respective matches on the weekend.

Nice are on the longest current unbeaten run of any club in Europe’s top five leagues, without a single league loss this season, having conceded only four goals.

Both teams were cautious in an uneventful first half, before the tempo increased after the break. Nigerian striker Akor Adams twice hit the post for Montpellier against a Nice side that have still yet to fall behind in a single game this campaign.
