ISLAMABAD: The developers of ezBike launched a battery-swap network and environment-friendly electric scooter at an event here on Thursday.

The technology aimed to reduce fuel consumption, air pollution and traffic congestion while enhancing accessibility. Through innovative battery-swapping technology, developers claimed that ezBike empowered communities to choose eco-friendly alternatives, contributing to a cleaner and better future.

The event was attended by Barrister Zaffarullah Khan,politicians Zahra Fatmi, Amina Sheikh, university vice chancellors, media and USAID representatives.

Mr Khan, who was chief guest, appreciated ezBike’s efforts in the field of eco-friendly mobility. He emphasised the crucial role that environmentally responsible initiatives played in preserving the planet and promoting clean transportation.

He stated, “ezBike’s battery swap station network represents a major stride toward a greener future. It’s not only economically viable but also a testament to our shared commitment to environmental sustainability. By utilising clean energy sources, these scooters significantly reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to cleaner, healthier cities. Unlike traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles, they produce zero tailpipe emissions, thus playing a pivotal role in mitigating climate change and enhancing overall air quality.”

The ezBike’s co-founders, Ali Moeen and Mohammad Hadi, said these stations enabled rapid battery exchanges in under 30 seconds, all seamlessly managed through the user-friendly ezSwap app. For users, electric scooters presented a cost-effective alternative to conventional vehicles.

With rising fuel prices and the escalating costs of maintaining a car, electric scooters provide a budget-friendly mode of transportation. Forty battery swap stations would be installed in Islamabad to start with.
