LOWER DIR: About 600 players and 46 clubs participated in a week-long sports festival arranged jointly by Dir Scouts, district administration and sports department in Lal Qila area of Maidan.

The sports festival concluded on Tuesday. A colourful event was held on the concluding day of the festival that was attended by former lawmakers, officers, players and youth in a large number.

According to the organisers, about 600 players and 46 different clubs participated in the event during which cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, tug-of-war, karate, gymnastics and marathon race competitions were held.

Besides others, Commandant Dir Scouts Brig Sanaullah, Lt-Col Sajjad Kiani, former MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan, former senator Zahid Khan, former MPA Saeed Gul, women rights activist Shad Begum, the district police officer, Ziaud Din, the deputy commissioner, Mohammad Fawad, the assistant commissioner, Noorzali Khan and district sports officer Ibrar Ahmad distributed trophies and shields among winner and runner up teams and best players of the tournament.
