Emo K-Jo

The eighth season of Koffee with Karan began on October 26. A-list Bollywood couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were the first guests on the show. To make the episode special, they shared with the host of the programme, Karan Johar (K-Jo), their wedding video, which made him very emotional; so much so that he started crying, saying he is lonely and doesn’t have something like that in his life. Deepika P consoled him by pointing out that he shouldn’t fall for a fairytale unless he finds a real one. K-Jo was consoled. He seems to believe in fairies. But we hope he doesn’t think of himself as one.

Break-up Games

Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman in Me is causing quite the stir in Tinseltown. After the media revealed that she has confessed in the book of cheating on Justin Timberlake (and that he had cheated on her) when they were together, the book also has Britney S opening up about her two failed marriages, to Justin T and Kevin Federline. She writes: “Both Justin and Kevin were very clever and knew what they were doing. I never knew how to play the game. But as much as I’ll own my flaws, ultimately, I know that I am a good person. I can see now that you have to be smart enough, vicious enough, deliberate enough to play the game, and I did not know the game. I was truly innocent — just clueless.” Well, Britney S, you certainly know how to play the publishing game now.

Clever Ash

In case you’re worrying about how Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s married life is moving along, take a chill pill. It’s all well on the domestic front. Recently, Ash baby was at a film event which was about a hubby-wifey equation. After the function, a journo asked her whether she missed her husband. Understanding the drift of the query, the actress replied, “Ghar pe hain, aadhay ghantay mein miloon gi [He’s at home, I’m going to see him in half an hour.]” Smart woman! She knows half an hour in showbiz can mean a lifetime.

Golden Ticket

Zhalay Sarhadi wants some answers. The girl is a little unhappy about the way auditions took place for a much-anticipated TV series Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi, to be aired on a Turkish channel from November 13. She wrote the following on her Instagram page: “I am still wondering why auditions were kept for this project and people were ‘selected’. As most never got an answer to why they were told that they were chosen in a publicised ceremony (also continually over and over again on a WhatsApp group) to be a part of this and then were never contacted even after being awarded with a ‘golden ticket?’ Asking for a friend.” Hmmm, a friend on Instagram is a friend indeed.

Twice The Rock

The Musee Grevin (a museum in Paris) made a wax statue of Dwayne Johson aka The Rock. But for some reason, they made him look fairer and smooth. It did not go down well both with the actor and his fans and complaints were sent the museum’s way. They didn’t waste time in rectifying the mistake, and touched up the statue one more time to give it a more authentic look — to his satisfaction. A spokesman for the museum said, “We just made an honest mistake based on the photos we looked at. After we saw all these reactions on different blogs and social networks, we changed it immediately.” In our opinion, it’s a rookie mistake. Never look at the photo of a wrestler who has become an actor; they act better than they fig

Exemplary Pair

It is such a delight to see Manzar Sehbai and Samina Ahmed hanging around shoulder to shoulder, becoming the darling couple of social media. In a rare interview, the two have talked about their relationship. When asked whether Manzar S can now claim that he knows his better half better, he gave an eloquent reply. He said it’s a process and that you always find out new things. We agree with him. The discovery is the journey.

Four hundred seats?

Four hundred seats?

The mix of divisive cultural politics and growth-oriented economics that feeds Hindu middle-class ambition and provides targeted welfare are key ingredients in the BJP’s political trajectory.
