LAHORE, Feb 13: A high-power Swiss business delegation headed by top government functionaries will visit Pakistan by the end of this year to assess the business and investment opportunities in various sectors.
This was stated by Swiss ambassador Denis Feldmeyer while speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday.
LCCI president Mian Shafqat Ali, senior vice-president Abdul Basit, vice-president Aftab Ahmad Vohra and former president Mian Misbahur Rehman also spoke on the occasion.
The ambassador was of the view that the Swiss business community was quite impressed with the economic turnaround made by Pakistan due to business-friendly policies of the government and they wanted to make investment in Pakistan.
He said there were quite a few sectors where there was huge potential for the Swiss businessmen, particularly the transfer of technology for the textile sector.
He said several Swiss companies were already operating in Pakistan and doing successful business, which was enough to prove that the Swiss investment had a bright future in this country.
The ambassador expressed the hope that Swiss investment would see a boost in the coming months due to liberal investment policies of the regime. He urged the LCCI president to bring a delegation to Switzerland so that both the sides could initiate joint ventures.
