GUJRANWALA, Feb 13: The communication link between 10 villages of Wazirabad tehsil and the rest of the country was disconnected due to theft of cable on Monday.

Unidentified thieves stole cable of Jandiala Dhabwala exchange as a result of which villages Langianwali, Bhatti Mansoor Morr, Mahi Chak, Chak Sanata, Pir Shah, Kolar, Aroop Chand and Ghrap Garh, etc, were cut off from the rest of the country.

It may be recalled that thieves took away entire exchange of Jandiala Dhabwala some one year ago.

The subscribers demanded that the PTCL should immediately lay cable and restore their telephone connection.

ROBBERY BID: Residents of Naushera Road foiled a robbery bid and caught two robbers when they were fleeing after an exchange of fire on Monday.

Police said the robbers sneaked into a house by scaling boundary wall. But the family and people of the areas caught them after a shootout. They were identified as Imran and Shahid. The former suffered minor injuries.

Later, they were handed over to police.

DONATION: A delegation of three NGOs visited the DHQ Hospital and donated medical equipment and medicines worth Rs3.5 million here on Monday.

The delegation was led by Dr Tomas Cock, Dr Vellemy and Dr Shado. Members of the delegation took a round of different wards and inquired after the health of patients.

Medical Superintendent Dr Nisar Cheema and other senior doctors thanked the delegation for providing donation.

KILLED: Two brothers were crushed to death by a speeding wagon near Aujala Kalan on GT Road on Monday.

Reports said that Ilyas and Nazir of Manzoorabad were on way to their village by a motorcycle when the wagon hit them. They died on the spot.

Police have registered a case against the absconding driver.
