Al Jazeera’s Gaza correspondent Safwat Kahlout, while describing the situation in the besieged enclave, said Israeli tanks have now pushed towards Gaza City.

He said Israeli forces have entered residential areas for the first time since they started ground operation and called it the more “serious development so far”.

“They have crossed the village of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip and are now stationing at one of the main roads in Gaza City called al-Nasr street,” Kahlout told Al Jazeera.
