DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Militants equipped with modern weapons attacked Hathala police station in Kulachi tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan district on Sunday night.

However, police repulsed the attack. Around 50 militants equipped with sophisticated weapons, hand grenades and rocket launchers attacked the police station, said officials.

They said that police repulsed the attack and militants managed to escape after heavy exchange of heavy fire with the law-enforcers.

“No casualties are reported. Militants fled after exchange of heavy fire with police,” a police spokesman said. He added that the attackers were trying to capture the police station.

Inspector General Police Akhtar Hayat Khan felicitated the policemen and said that Dera police were fighting against the anti-state elements in the best possible way.
