PESHAWAR/D.I. KHAN: Two soldi­ers emb­raced martyrdom and a terrorist was killed in two different incidents in Khyber and South Waziristan on Saturday.

In Dera Ismail Khan, a policeman was martyred after unknown militants opened fire on a police camp.

According to a statem­ent issued by ISPR, a militant was gunned down following an exchange of fire in an intelligence-based operation in Tirah valley of district Khyber.

Two injured militants were also arrested, the ISPR stated, adding that weapons and ammunition were recovered.

The terrorists were involved in attacks agai­nst security forces and target killing of civilians.

Two soldiers were martyred when an IED went off in Sarwekai area of district South Waziristan.

They were identified as- Sepoy Banaras Khan, 23, from Orakzai, and Se­­p­­oy Abdul Karim, 23, of Khyber.

Cop martyred

The attack in D.I. Khan took place late on Satur­day near CPEC Yarik Toll Plaza on the Hakla-D.I. Khan Motorway, a police spokesman said.

Around 15 to 20 assailants stormed the police camp within the remit of Yarik police station.

The martyred constable was identified as Sher Alam. He died on the spot.

The firing continued for a long time during which grenades were also used. The militants fled after the attack.
