US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has said the lives of innocent Palestinians, UN personnel, humanitarian workers and journalists “must be protected”.
The US was among the 14 countries that opposed a Jordan-drafted resolution that called for a “humanitarian truce” and was adopted by the UN General Assembly on Friday.
It had previously vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have called for humanitarian pauses in the conflict.
