Neglected monument

THE Tariq Bin Zayad Memorial Ship, which is located in Sahiwal’s Tariq Bin Zayad Colony, stands as a reminder of the bold decision made by the esteemed Muslim military commander, Tariq Bin Zayad.

The tactical manoeuvre employed by the man invloved setting his army’s boats ablaze to eliminate any backtracking route when confronted with a formidable enemy. This audacious deed led to a remarkable victory that is now and integral part of global history.

Unfortunately, the Tariq Bin Zayad Memorial Ship has fallen prey to neglect by the local administration. The monument, once a symbol of courage, now languishes amid accumulated dust and refuse. The lack of paint, a simple yet crucial measure, has hastened its gradual decay.

The community and residents, rightfully proud of this historic landmark, are increasingly disheartened by the current state of the monument. It is vital for the government to acknowledge the importance of preserving our heritage and to take swift action in restoring and maintaining the monument. As neglect persists, the memorial faces the tangible risk of irreversible harm.

The erosion of its historical significance could result in the loss of an invaluable monument. An urgent action is needed to rescue the monument and the history it embodies for future generations.
