KARACHI, Feb. 11: A meeting of the minority communities on Saturday, pointing out that Christian community, has been ignored while nominating the candidates for the ensuing Senate elections, demanded that a Christian community member be nominated so that the community was represented in Senate.

The meeting of the All-Parties conference, organized by the Voice of Minorities Pakistan, which was held at Essa Nagri and chaired by Bishop Salamat Khokhar, further pointed out that the government party had nominated representatives of Hindu and Parsi communities, but Christians, who were a major minority community, were ignored.

It also demanded that keeping in view the population of the minority communities, the number of seats for minorities in the Senate and the national as well as provincial assemblies be increased, so that they were properly represented in the decision making forums.

The meeting also demanded that provisions be made so that the minority communities were given right of dual voting.

The meeting also unanimously condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures in Denmark and urged the government to take appropriate action and convey the sentiments of the people to the governments concerned.
