Nations Cup award for Ahmed

CAIRO, Feb 10: Egypt skipper Ahmed Hasan has been named the most outstanding player of the 2006 African Nations Cup. The 30-year-old midfielder has been the most influential player of the tournament and has also chipped in with four goals.

Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi was picked as the best young talent. The 18-year-old midfielder made his Nations Cup finals debut in Egypt and scored a goal.

Egypt goalkeeper Essam El Hadary was named the best goalkeeper.—AFP
