KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, claimed to have arrested 15 suspects and seized smuggled 6,050 litres of Iranian oil, cigarettes and food items in two operations.

They also impounded a number of buses and trucks used in smuggling the Iranian fuel during two operations at the Hub check post and in Jacobabad.

A spokesman for the Rangers said on Friday that the paramilitary force during more than 70 operations arrested 113 suspects and seized total 225,317 litres of Iranian oil, several pumps, motors, generators, 49 vehicles, 530kg of Indian gutka, cigarettes, betel nuts, household items, tobacco, cloth, electronic items and other illegally smuggled imported items from them.

The arrested suspects along with the confiscated goods have been handed over to the Customs authorities for further legal action.—
