SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 7: As many as 470 educators will be recruited in the district shortly. This was stated by Education EDO Yousaf M Gull while talking to the press here on Tuesday.

He said 98 secondary schools were functioning in the district, urging the teachers community to perform their duties with honesty, commitment and dedication. He said educators would be recruited strictly on merit. He said last year 464 educators had been appointed who performed well.

To a question, he said in the next session starting from September, English medium classes would be introduced in four high schools.

The EDO said last year an English medium class had been started in government boys high school which showed excellent results and parents of students highly appreciated the effort.

Mr Gull said all the record and information relating to schools had been computerized and now the education department had launched its website — www.skp.edu.pk.

He asked the AEOs to pay surprise visits to various schools in rural areas to ensure 100 per cent attendance of teachers as well as students. —Correspondent
