LAHORE: Besides the ongoing operations against the power theft, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) is all set to launch operations from Wednesday (today) to recover over Rs5.385 billion from the top 800 ‘chronic defaulters’ (100 each in eight circles) in Lahore city district and the adjoining districts of Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura.

On the other hand, office of the Lahore commissioner has issued a notification, giving Tehsildars the powers to recover Lesco dues and appointed them in all circles of the company.

Sources say Lesco’s Lahore Eastern Circle is to recover Rs1.885 billion, North Circle over Rs660 million, Central Circle over Rs150m, Southern Circle 240.09m, Sheikhupura Circle Rs1.8bn, Okara Circle Rs160.2m, Kasur Circle over Rs320m and Nankana Sahib Circle is to 170.7m.
