PESHAWAR, Feb 5: Police authorities said on Sunday that the four robbers who were killed in Saturday’s encounter with law-enforcement personnel were residents of the Badhber locality on the outskirts of the city.

In the meantime, police investigators are trying to determine whether the rickshaw driver, Aslam Khan, was a member of the gang or only an unfortunate victim of the shoot-out in Pahari Pura area of Chamkani.

The four robbers were identified as Tawab Sabir, his brother Nawab, Khalid Hussain and Azmat Khan.

Police said that Tawab and Nawab had criminal backgrounds and were both wanted by the Badhber police in connection with car-snatching cases and other criminal activities. Khalid was a cousin of the two brothers and Azmat was also a distinct relative of theirs, police officials added.
