MR Mohammed Ali, Secretary-General, Pakistan Government, who went to Quetta on Saturday [Sept 4] after a meeting of the Cabinet, had a long interview with the Quaid-i-Azam on Sunday morning and returned to Karachi in the evening. Immediately after his return from Quetta, an emergency meeting of the Cabinet was held at the Prime Minister’s house. It is believed that the subject under discussion was the Pakistan Government’s reply to the proposals of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, according to Dawn’s Delhi correspondent,] Hundreds of copies of Dawn were seized by the Customs authorities here today [Sept 5] following the Government of India’s ban issued last evening. Even the day before yesterday’s Dawn, which could not be delivered yesterday morning and on which the ban was not operative, was refused delivery by the authorities.

It remains to be seen whether diplomatic circles here, almost all of whom are subscribers and are keen readers of the paper, would be allowed to get their copies direct from Karachi.
