ISLAMABAD, Feb 4: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday linked peace and security in Balochistan with implementation of the development programme and reiterated the government’s resolve to establish its writ in the province to ensure continuity of the development process.

Talking to Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House, Mr Aziz emphasised maintenance of law and order as pre-requisite for development and progress of the province.

Jam Yousuf briefed the prime minister on the law and order situation, uplift activities and political situation in Balochistan.

The prime minister pointed out that billions had been released over the past six years and more funds would be allocated for uplift projects in every district of the province.

He said that those trying to derail the development process were doing so to serve their personal interest. The government, he said, would deal with them with an iron hand and would show zero tolerance for outlaws.

“The anti-development elements trying to create unrest in the province are only serving their vested interest at the cost of national interest. Solidarity and security of Pakistan is the most sacrosanct for us and we are determined to protect it at every cost,” he said.

The premier directed the Balochistan government to complete the projects launched under the Public Sector Development Programme on time and ensure that benefits of these programmes reached the common man.
