KARACHI: A suspected robber was lynched and another critically injured by an angry mob in Korangi on Monday, police said.
Korangi-SSP Tariq Nawaz said that two suspects were looting passers-by at Ghous Pak Road in Sector-50-D, Korangi-4. Area people noticed their activity, gathered there and managed to overpower them.
The mob subjected the suspects to a severe beating. However, police reached the scene and shifted them to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where one of them, identified as Hafeezullah, died during treatment.
Another injured suspect, Mohammed Aqeel, was admitted for treatment.
The police claimed to have recovered two .30-bore pistols, one snatched cell phone and a motorcycle that was snatched within the remit of the Awami Colony police station from them.
The SSP said that the deceased had a past criminal record as there were four FIRs registered against him at different police stations.
