LAHORE: The Punjab police have formally inaugurated the first Police Animal Rescue Centre (PARC) in Lahore for the treatment and rehabilitation of helpless, injured and sick animals.

Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar inaugurated the centre established in partnership with a private organisation – Justice for Kiki, extending services for animal rights. The Police Animal Rescue Centre helpline 03192646257 has also been activated.

The IG said the animal rescue centre would have veterinary doctors, an ambulance, rescue staff and police team. He said the mobile app of the Police Animal Rescue Centre would contain data of veterinary doctors and centres and other details to provide immediate help to animals in distress.

He said the centre would play an important role in the treatment and rehabilitation of helpless and injured animals.
