CHITRAL: Two young women committed suicide in different areas of Chitral district here on Friday, the police said.

An official of the city police station told Dawn that Nausheen Rahmat, a 19-year-old student from Bilphok village on the Garam Chashma Road near the Chitral city, reportedly hanged herself with a ceiling fan in her house.

He said that the woman took her life after she failed to clear the entrance test to BS Nursing in Aga Khan University, Karachi.

The second incident took place in Zang Lasht village of Torkhow tehsil in Upper Chitral, where a married young woman, Haleema Bibi, 25, was found hanging by a rope attached to a beam inside her house.

Sub-divisional police officer, Torkhow, Bahader Khan told Dawn that the deceased was mother of two and the reason of her committing suicide could not be ascertained immediately. He said at the time of the occurrence, her husband, Syed Fida Ali Shah was not present at home.

He said that the police had started investigation to ascertain the real reason of her death on the basis of the postmortem report carried out in the DHQ Hospital.
