SUKKUR, Feb 1: Unknown armed men set on fire at least 10 houses, stole wheat and valuables, and rustled cattle heads in Suleman Dahar village, near Daharki, on Friday.

At least 25 armed men on three tractor trolleys raided the village and opened indiscriminate fire as a result of which a woman, Kariman, was wounded.

Later, the armed men sprinkled kerosene on several houses and set them on fire as a result of which 10 houses were completely gutted.

One Suleman Dahar who had an FIR registered in the Daharki police station against Abdul Jabbar Dahar and 25 others claimed to the police that the armed attackers also stole 30 cattle heads, a thousand maunds of wheat and other valuables.

DACOIT HELD: A dacoit, Ali Hassan Shaikh, who belongs to the gang of Miro Shaikh, was arrested from Belo Mirpur, Ghotki District, on Friday.

However, an insider told this correspondent that the dacoit had been arrested some seven days back from his house but the police did not disclose it then.

derailed: A bogy of the goods train derailed near Rohri on Thursday blocking the main trains.

The 37 down Parcel Express goods train, going from Lahore to Karachi, when reached near Rohri its bogy No 11 derailed, damaging the line points and the signalling system, as a result the Lahore Non-stop Express and other trains were stopped at different railway stations.

The rescue train immediately rushed to the site and put the derailed bogy on the track and the line was cleared for traffic.

The railway authorities have ordered inquiry into the incident.
