CBR staff to monitor sugar output

Published February 4, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3: The collector of sales tax has posted staff in a few sugar mills to monitor their production in accordance with the provisions of the sales tax act.

An official announcement issued by the CBR on Friday said they were posted since the production of sugar in these mills had registered an abnormal decrease in the current crushing season.

The sales tax staff was performing this function without causing any hindrance in the process of sale of sugar from the mills, added the announcement.

The CBR clarified the sales tax department had not initiated an action to register traders of sugar in order to bring them into the tax net. There was no restriction, whatsoever, on the clearance and sale of sugar from the sugar mills.
