LAHORE: The 22nd Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championships are set to kick off in Urmia, Iran, with Pakistan squaring off against Bangladesh in the opening match on Sunday.

The national team arrived in Urmia on Aug 11, engaging in acclimatization exercises. During their stay, they contested two practice matches.

In the first match, Pakistan succumbed to defending champions Iran 3-1. However, they bounced back to secure a dominant 3-0 victory over Bahrain.

A total of 18 teams are participating in this championship. Following their opening match, Pakistan will face South Korea on Aug 21.

The subsequent match schedule hinges on the outcomes of each team’s initial two encounters.
