HYDERABAD, Feb 2: A huge quantity of medicines was seized in a raid on Thursday on a factory, which had been closed under orders of the federal government for manufacturing substandard drugs one year ago.

The director-general, Sindh health services, Hyderabad, Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi, deputy director-general, health, Islamabad, Dr Ali Akbar Siyal, federal drug inspector, Saifur Rehman Khattak, and other officers raided the Grandiphar Pakistan factory in the Site area and sealed it again.

In a statement, Dr Jatoi said that so far 60 medical stores had been sealed in Hyderabad, Badin, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar for selling spurious drugs. He said cases against the medical stores were pending in courts.

RECOVERY CAMPAIGN: The planning and development department of the HDA, Qasimabad, on Thursday launched a campaign for recovery of dues under the head of external charges from private housing scheme developers.

A spokesman for the HDA said notices had been issued to developers and sponsors of housing schemes who had not cleared their dues.

TRAFFIC PLAN: A plan to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic was approved at a meeting held here on Wednesday.

The district nazim presided over the meeting which decided to implement the traffic plan, prepared by a committee headed by MPA Aslam Pervez, in three phases.

The plan would be launched on Feb 17 at the Koh-i-Noor chowk and Hyder chowk, Gari Khata.

The district nazim constituted a committee headed by MPA Pervez to enforce the plan in letter and spirit.
