KARACHI, Feb 2: More than 100 tickets of Thar Express were sold till Thursday evening after Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad inaugurated a special booking counter at the Cantonment Station here on Wednesday.

At the booking counter, people can get their seats reserved in the Thar Express, being launched on February 17 to mark the formal reopening of the Khokhrapar-Monabao route the next day.

After inaugurating the counter, Dr Ibad had purchased the first ticket and gifted it to one, Shoukat Ali. City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and DS Pakistan Railway Junaid Qureshi were accompanying the governor.

Mr Kamal also purchased a ticket for one, Mohammad Fareed. A total of 10 tickets were issued on Wednesday night and the number shot up to over 100 on Thursday.

The Thar Express is a non-stop train service to be run between Karachi and Zero Point, Mr Qureshi said.

Mohammad Hussain, Senior Reservation Supervisor at the Cantonment Station said that the train would have 10 compartments, eight for Karachi and one each for Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.

There would be one first class compartment and seven economy coaches in the train, he added.—PPI
