LAKKI MARWAT: The administration has banned sale and use of pressure horns and display of weapons for 10 days in Bannu district.

An official said on Sunday that Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Afridi imposed the ban after receiving reports that people, especially youths, could resort to such activities on Independence Day that could cause damage to lives and properties.

“Indulging of youth in such activities can also cause inconvenience and a sense of insecurity among people,” he said. He added that the administration also banned firing in the air, wheelie, drifting on roads, use of tinted glasses and swimming in rivers and dams.

The official said that the violators would face action under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The tehsil municipal officials have been directed to inform people about the restrictions.

Meanwhile, several events were held in Lakki Marwat and Bannuas as part of Independence Day celebrations.

The education department with support of Boy Scouts Association held declamation and Naat Khawni competitions at Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghasan Khan Centennial Model High School No.1 in Lakki Marwat city.

In the declamation contest, Mohammad Hamza and Mohammad Jibran of Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghasan Khan Centennial Model High School No.1 Lakki got first position.

Mohammad Bostan of Government High School Haramatala and Abdullah of Government High School No.2, Lakki stood second and third, respectively.

Anab Ahmad, a girl student of Government Primary School Baghban and Amir Hamza of Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghasan Khan Centennial Model High School No.1 Lakki shared the first position in Naat Khawni competition.

Jehanzeb of Government Middle School Meenakhel and Mohammad Jawad of Government Higher Secondary School Kherukhel Pakka shared the second position.

Miskeen, a student of Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghasan Khan Centennial Model High School No.1 Lakki grabbed third position.
