Karawan Club claim title on penalties

PESHAWAR, Jan 31: Karawan Club claimed Interclub football championship title defeating Nourang Club 7-6 on penalty shootouts at Lakki Marwat ground on Tuesday.

Karawan grabbed lead when Shoukatullah slammed home on a field attempt in 13th minute.

Nourang pulled level in the 41st minute through Jan Khan who received the ball in front of the goal-post and slammed it right into the net.

The teams were tied at 1-1 at half-time.

Karawan again went one goal up in the second-half when Faridullah slammed a beautiful goal off a field attempt but five minutes later Nourang’s Sarfaraz Khan levelled the tally 2-2.

The teams were awarded five penalty kicks each after the match ended drawn in stipulated time.

Karawan scored on all the five attempts to raise its score to seven while Nourang could avail only four to lose the match 6-7.—APP
