LAHORE, Jan 30: The residents of nearby localities were the first who reached to the rescue of Lahore non-stop train passengers, eyewitnesses said on Monday. “People had to walk up to three kilometres while the injured were taken in bedspreads to Domeli railway station,” passengers of the Lahore non-stop told reporters after alighting from the Subak Kharam which was terminated at Jhelum and sent back with passengers of the Lahore non-stop (108-down), including 25 injured who were taken to the Mayo and Services hospitals.

COMPENSATION: The Pakistan Railways announced on Monday that a Rs200,000 compensation would be given to the legal heirs of the deceased and Rs100,000 to the passengers who got injuries of serious nature while Rs20,000 to Rs50,000 would be given to other passengers depending upon the nature of their injury.
