RAWALPINDI: Punjab Caretaker Minister of Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Population Welfare Dr Jamal Nasir has urged citizens to be aware of the ones spreading religious hatred online.

He said it was the responsibility of all citizens to keep an eye on those promoting religious hatred and sectarianism, and that such cases must be reported to cyber wing of the FIA and local administration.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Ali Mosque in Satellite Town, Mr Nasir said the ulema ought to establish close contact with the administration and strictly follow code of conduct for the sake of peace and social stability.

The minister said Islam taught brotherhood, tolerance, fraternity and patience and by adhering to these principles, peace could be achieved.

Dr Jamal Nasir said people of all schools of thought and religions lived in complete harmony with each other in this country, respecting each other. But, a handful of elements are making nefarious efforts to create unrest and terrorism in the country by spreading religious hatred and inciting differences, which must be thwarted in any case, he added.

He lauded religious scholars for always discouraging elements who spread hatred, adding that peace in Pakistan had been established with the joint efforts of all institutions and for this security and law enforcement agencies had sacrificed their lives.
