Afshan shines in SSC win

KARACHI, Jan 28: Holders Sir Syed College (SSC) inflicted a magnificent 36-19 defeat on Karachi College for Women (KCW) in the final of Karachi Board Inter-collegiate girls’ basketball championship at their own court on Saturday to retain the title for fourth successive year.

The winners led 12-5 at half time. Afshan was the main architect of her team’s triumph. She top scored with 20 points including a three pointer.

She was ably assisted by Aimel who contributed 12 points. Maliha with four points to her credit completed the tally.

Haleema and Qurratul Ain scored 12 and six points for the losers.

Meanwhile, two-day trials to pick Karachi Board team for the Inter-board girls’ basketball championship will commence at Sir Syed College from Jan 31. The Inter-board competition takes place at Lahore from Feb 17.
