LAHORE: A Lahore High Court judge on Monday withdrew a stay order against the election of the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board and referred the matter to a senior judge who was already seized with similar cases.

Justice Anwaar Hussain resumed the hearing of a petition filed by Malik Zulfiqar when a counsel for the PCB stated that identical petitions were already pending before the court of Justice Shahid Karim, who also issued stay orders against the election.

He said it would be appropriate to consolidate all identical petitions before one judge to avoid complex decisions.

Justice Hussain endorsed the suggestion and sent the petition to the chief justice with a request to fix its hearing before the court of Justice Karim.

Justice Hussain also withdrew the stay order against the election.

The petitioner through a counsel had contended that the election commission of the PCB unlawfully dissolved the board of governors lawfully established by the management committee of the cricket governing body.

She said the election commission unlawfully constituted a new board of governors only to engineer the election of the PCB chief. She asked the court to set aside the election of the cricket board’s chairman.

Justice Karim had pas­sed the injunctive orders on the petitions filed by Gul Zada and others.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel told the judge that the Balochistan High Court had already stayed the election of the PCB chairman.
