PESHAWAR: Three children were killed and their parents injured in what authorities believe a gas cylinder explosion inside a house on Dora Road here on Saturday morning.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Faizi said Shahzeb Umar, 40, his 29-year-old wife, and his three children, including Zunerah, 8, Ahad Umar, 4, and Jalil Umar, 3, were trapped under rubble when a gas cylinder exploded on the first floor of the house, causing the roof to collapse.

He said rescue teams retrieved the two adults in injured condition and shifted them to the Lady Reading Hospital. However, he said they pulled out the bodies of three children, who were also shifted to LRH.

A statement issued by LRH said three children, including two boys and a girl, were received dead.

SP city Abdul Salam said as soon as the explosion took place, police responded and also took part in the rescue activities. He said Bomb Disposal Unit also visited the spot.
