Decorating with a glass dome or cloche is something not many people do, because they can break easily. But after the movie Beauty and the Beast, everyone loved the cloche with the rose inside.

Since glass is fragile, I thought of a clever idea for kids. Instead of using glass, we can use a plastic bottle! You can put a fake rose inside for decoration, but why not give it a twist by putting a candle that runs on batteries. The end result is really cool! Look for yourself!

Things you need:

1 An empty plastic bottle (you can use soft drink or any other with less designs).

2 Pink foam sheet (you can use the colour of your choice).

3 A strip from glittering sheet, (matching the colour of your foam sheet).

4 Scissors

5 Paper cutter

6 Hot glue

7 White glue

8 Piece from hardboard

9 Craft flowers

Directions:

  1. With the help of an adult, cut around 5 inches from the bottom part of the bottle, picture 2.

  2. Place this bottom part over the cardboard and trace a circle on it. Cut along the traced line, picture 3.

  3. Repeat the previous step by placing the cardboard circle on the foam sheet. Trace two circles on the foam sheet

and cut them out. Then, apply some white glue to both sides of the cardboard circle and paste the foam sheet circles to it, pictures 4 and 5.

  1. Glue the glitter strip around the foam circle, pictures 6 and 7.

  2. You can choose to make a holder or skip this step altogether. I used the bottle neck as a holder by attaching it underneath the circular base. See pictures 8 and 9 for guidance.

  3. It’s time to decorate the plastic dome or cloche. Arrange the flowers on top of the bottom part of the bottle we cut earlier, pictures 10 and 11.

  4. Turn on the candle and place it on the base. Then, carefully cover it with the cloche.

See the magic!
