MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 31: A woman was killed on Thursday in Indian shelling from across the Line of Control in a southern border village , an official said.

“Indian troops started firing using machine-guns and fired mortars at 3:30pm targeting civilians in Hajira and Abbaspur sectors,” Poonch Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Hussain told Dawn by telephone.

Zainab Bibi, wife of Mohammad Said, was hit by splinters of a shell in Tetrinot village and died on the way to hospital, he added. Tetrinot is the same village where six civilians were killed in heavy Indian shelling on Monday evening.
