JEONGJU (South Korea): Pakistan downed Japan in their opener of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship here on Saturday.

Pakistan won 52-32 with Ayman Mehmood and Muqadas scored 40 and 12 points respectively against Japan. Zainab Shujaat, Hamna, Haya Gul, and Alveera Kashif also put in commendable performances.

Pakistan’s next match will be against Thailand on Sunday. They are one of 11 teams participating in the event alongside Japan and Thailand. The other teams are Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Hong Kong, Brunei, Chinese Taipei and hosts South Korea.
