MANSEHRA: Two sisters and a boy drowned in the Indus River in Single Banda area of Lower Kohistan district on Friday, rescue officials and witnesses said.
They said two daughters of Akhtar Munir, whose ages were stated to be between 10 to 15 years, and an 11-year-old son of Hakeemdar, were washing clothes at the riverbank.
They said the water level rose suddenly, causing the children to drown.
Local divers and Rescue 1122 officials fished out their bodies after hectic efforts of many hours and handed them over to their families.
Also in the day, a car carrying six people to Shitial area from Dasu, in Upper Kohistan, went out of the driver’s control at the main bridge on Karakoram Highway and fell into the Indus River.
The locals rushed to the spot and retrieved all of them from the river and shifted them to Civil Hospital, Shitial, where doctors pronounced one of them dead. The others were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad.
According to the police, all those, who met with the accident, were members of the same family and belonged to Daral area of the district.
Meanwhile, Mansehra deputy commissioner on Friday set new price of roti and directed the nanbais to follow the fresh rate, or face strict legal action.
A press release issued by the district administration said as the price of wheat flour had decreased significantly, the roti price was reduced to Rs20 from Rs25.
