ON May 5, I appeared for the grade-17 examination held by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) at the Government Elementary College of Education for Men, Hyderabad. I was extremely disappointed by the facilities provided during the exam.
The hall lacked basic facilities, such as electricity, which made the humid weather unbearable. Moreover, the hall was part of an institute that was conducting classes for its own students at the same time. For us, the candidates, the environment was suffocating and miserable.
The SPSC should take responsibility for providing better facilities to the candidates. The exam hall should have had proper air conditioning or at least fans to keep the environment bearable for the candidates. Also, the exam centre should have been free from any kind of disturbance or noise so that the candidates could focus on their test without distractions.
It is crucial for the SPSC to understand the importance of the examination process and how the lack of proper facilities can affect candidates’ performance. These exams are a significant steppingstone for many people. Their careers are dependent on it, so they deserve better facilities during this crucial time.
The authorities concerned should take immediate action and provide better facilities to the candidates appearing in the upcoming exams. The SPSC should ensure that the exam halls are equipped with all the necessary facilities so that the candidates may perform at their best without any hindrances.
