GILGIT: World Environment Day was celebrated across Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday to raise awareness about environmental threats and offer solutions.

Several rallies, seminars and cleanliness drives were held across the region, with support of GB Environmental Protection Agency and foreign donors.

The participants vowed to play their role to protect the natural environment from degradation.

The World Environment Day was also celebrated in the Karakoram International University, Gilgit in collaboration with Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan, GB EPA, International Union for Conservation of Nature, WWF, Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Lincoln Corners.

Development professionals, university students, faculty, volunteers and media representatives participated in various activities.
