BAHAWALPUR: Five persons died while 10 suffered injuries in separate road accidents here on Sunday.

A bus going from Bahawalpur to Lahore crushed four persons to death near Kahror Basti in Kahror Pucca while it skidded off the road, resulting in injuries to nine passengers.

According to the rescuers, the bus driver attempted to save an unidentified cyclist and hit a motorcycle having three riders. The motorcycle riders and the cyclist all were crushed under the wheels of the bus while the driver lost control over it before it rammed into a roadside wall. Nine passengers received injuries.

The cyclist could not be identified while the motorcycle riders who died were identified as Waqar Hussain (27) Khadija (23) and Maimoona (35).

The body of the cyclist was received by his family while the bodies of three motorcycle riders were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahror Pucca.

Nine injured bus passengers were provided first aid and they were shifted to the THQ hospital. They were identified as Abdul Rashid (60), Ramzan (28), Muhammad Mansha, Iftiha (12), Hafiz Uzair Nawaz (26), Yahya (28), Kalsoom (30), Skindar, Muneer Hussain and Shafqat Ali.

In the second road accident near Tarinda road, Uch Sharif, one Muhammad Jaleel (35) was killed while his pillion, Allah Rakha, was seriously injured. The accident occurred when Jaleel tried to overtake a trailer and collided with another trailer coming from the opposite direction. The body of the deceased was shifted to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Uch Sharif.

ELECTROCUTED: One Muhammad Sabir (25) was electrocuted at Dhoorekot near Uch Sharif. He took a bath at the tube well and went to switch off the turbine while his body was still wet. He received electric shocks and died on the spot.

CYLINDER BLAST: Three persons suffered burns in a gas cylinder blast at Arshad Town near Labana Chowk, Sammsatta.

According to Rescue 1122, the gas cylinder in the kitchen had leakage. In the morning, when the kitchen door was opened for making breakfast, there was a blast. As a result, Imran (50), Zohra Bibi (35) and Fatima Bibi (10) suffered burns. They were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) where they were stated to be in a serious condition.
