PESHAWAR / BAJAUR: Two security personnel embraced martyrdom and two militants were killed in an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in Bannu district on Saturday, according to military’s media wing.
A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relation read that fire exchange took place in the Jani Khel area of the district, adding that the security forces effectively engaged the militants’ location killing two militants.
However, Naib Subedar Ghulam Murtaza, hailing from Bahawalpur and Havildar Mohammad Anwar, hailing from Sialkot, embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire. It said the area was being combed by security forces.
Bajaur blast
Earlier, two people were killed when a truck carrying construction materials was hit by a remote-controlled explosion in the Mohmand area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district.
Rescue 1122 and police officials told Dawn the blast took place at about 5pm on the Shagoo-Bandagai road in the Gatki area, some 18km from Khar district headquarters. The remote-controlled blast occurred when a mini-truck carrying sand was passing through. The two men on board were severely wounded and died on the way to District Headquarters Hospital in Bajaur.
The victims were identified as Sher Wali Khan, the driver; and Gul Azam, the vehicle’s owner. After medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families of the deceased in the Mohmand area.
DPO Nazeer Khan confirmed to Dawn that it was a remote-controlled bomb blast.
