KARACHI: Mohammad Jibran Nasir, a lawyer and human rights activist, was picked up by “armed men” near his DHA residence on Thursday night, according to his family and friends.

The 36-year-old activist was intercepted by a white van when he was driving back home after having dinner with his wife, actress Mansha Pasha.

“As we were driving close to our home, a white Vigo intercepted our car and blocked our way. When we stopped, several armed men got out, pulled Jibran out of our car and took him away. They threw his wallet and cellphone while speeding off. It was around 11pm.”

She expressed concern for her husband’s well-being and stated that she was unaware of any “significant threat” to Mr Nasir’s security. However, she said that the “situation in the country” demanded everyone to stay cautious.

Mr Nasir’s family and friends said they were going to the area police station to report his “kidnapping.”
