PESHAWAR: Faculty and other employees of the Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi, have announced boycott of their duties from Thursday (today) in protest against the ‘arbitrary’ decisions of the college’s dean and the associate dean.

Speaking at an emergency meeting, the college’s faculty, medical and paramedical staff demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and the caretaker minister for health to remove both the officers from their posts, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The meeting was informed that the provincial government had closed educational institutions from May 9-14; however, the college’s management issued show-cause notices to those who did not visit the institution during this period.

Besides, they said despite health department’s ban on making important decisions, the dean sacked two senior professors on Tuesday, while majority of grade-I to 16 employees had not been getting salaries for past four months.

Similarly, they said transport service had also been withdrawn from many staff members without assigning any reason.
