Four children die after fire breaks out in house

RAWALPINDI: Four children were killed and their mother was critically injured in a gas leak fire in a house at Shamsabad on Saturday.

According to police, five members of the family were asleep when the fire engulfed the house, killing three children on the spot. Their mother Noreen, 35, and sister Fatima, 5, sustained serious burn injuries.

The injured were shifted to the Rawal Burn Unit of the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), where Fatima also succumbed to her injuries. Their mother’s condition was stated to be critical.

The bodies of the three children identified as Mohammad, 2, Alishba,12, and Shahzaib, 8, were also shifted to the mortuary of the hospital, from where they were handed over to their relatives for burial.

The police have started an investigation into the incident and said statements of the neighbours had been recorded according to which the incident had occurred due to a gas leakage.

They said the mother of the children was in hospital and still unconscious. After statement of the woman, the police would be able to know about the actual cause of the incident.
