IIL’s solar plant

International Industries Limited (IIL), Pakistan’s largest manufacturer and exporter of steel and polymer pipes, recently commissioned a state-of-the-art 1 MW solar power system at IIL Factory 1 in Karachi, as per a press release. Aside from the significant contribution to carbon footprint reduction, the solar power system is expected to generate substantial cost savings for IIL over its operational lifespan. By relying on solar energy, the company will significantly reduce its dependence on conventional power, thereby mitigating the impact of rising energy costs and enhancing its long-term financial sustainability.

PVC, the new construction concept

A unique concept store and one-stop solution for sustainable construction products in Pakistan, the company thinkPVC, recently participated as a conference sponsor of the 18th International IAPEX Exhibition 2023 in Karachi, according to a press release. PVC is a versatile material that offers a wide range of sustainable solutions for the construction industry; thinkPVC is leading the way by offering innovative, made-in-Pakistan products that are both eco-friendly and affordable.

Agency 21’s cricket franchise

Agency21 International, Pakistan’s biggest estate agency, has announced the launch of its first-ever franchise, with cricket legend Wasim Akram as the first franchise owner, states a press release. The inauguration ceremony took place in DHA Karachi. The agreement was signed between Agency21 International and Wasim Akram.

The event showcased the latest advancements in real estate technology, with interactive VR and floor plan technologies stealing the show. The franchise also introduced the audience to IMARAT Group corporate social responsibility ventures and real estate certifications.

SCB, Mastercard partnership

Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Ltd. and Mastercard have signed an exclusive strategic partnership to accelerate payment innovation in Pakistan, according to a press release. The collaboration also includes the launch of Mastercard’s World and World Elite cards, targeted at ultra-high-net-worth individuals, offering priceless lifestyle and travel benefits and experiences. These include access to select luxury experiences, shopping opportunities in cities around the world, discounted car rental and chauffeur services, complimentary nights at select hotels and resorts, as well as access to premium airline services.

PSW’s goods clearance at dry ports

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has extended the scope of its operations to all dry ports (except Quetta) recently, a move that will further facilitate the country’s cross-border trade operations, as per a press release. With the new development, goods and commodities clearance of commercial consignments classified under Chapters 1 to 50 of the Pakistan Customs Tariff has been completely switched to PSW, allowing clearance of imported consignments via submission of a Single Declaration.

The Single Declaration is a core feature of the PSW system which enables parties involved in international trade to lodge standardised information and documents at a single-entry point to meet the regulatory requirements of multiple government agencies simultaneously.

IBA in Islamabad

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Islamabad, has inaugurated a dedicated facility in the federal capital, as per a press release. IBA aims to bring opportunities for organisations and individuals through action learning-based capacity-building initiatives, research, forums, think tanks, and consultancies. This venture will help meet the increasing demands of today’s business world.

KE’s outreach

K-Electric recently organised a facilitation camp in Malir where the utility received massive support from the consumers, especially women. More than 700 consumers were facilitated, and they availed various services from KE teams, including bill payment solutions via easy monthly instalments and rebates as per their eligibility. At this camp, consumers also submit applications to get new connections at their premises.
